CATI

CATI (Computer-Assisted TelephoneInterviewing) is a telephone survey conducted by Rating Group's own callcenter. It is about the speed of data collection and a reliable, representative sample.
System and sampling
There are two types of CATI sampling:general representative and targeted.
General representative sample
The general representative sample reflects the views of the population of Ukraine, regions, etc. This sample can include citizens in all regions where Ukrainian mobile communications are available at the time of the survey. The results obtained can be weighted using the latest available demographic statistics for Ukraine according to data from the State Statistics Service as of January 1, 2022 (https://www.ukrstat.gov.ua/).
Target sample
Used when you need to find out the views of a specific category of the population (for example, parents of children currently attending elementary school). Initially, the target sample is constructed in the same way as a general representative sample. However, during the call, screening takes place: the operator asks the respondent several filter questions. If the respondent meets the criteria of the target group, he/she is included in the target sample (the survey continues). If the respondent does not meet the criteria, then he/she is not included in the sample (the conversation ends).
Quality assurance
Rating Group conducts logical checks of the data set and monitors audio interviews both online and in recordings. We have developed a comprehensive system for monitoring and improving the effectiveness of our interviewers. It includes regular assessments using quality charts and training to improve their skills and qualifications. In particular, the following measures are provided:
Corrective measures are applied based on the evaluation results. If critical errors are detected, this leads to the exclusion of the interview from the data set and additional training and testing for the operator. In addition, at least 10% of completed questionnaires are checked by controllers by listening to the audio recording.
To validate the data, Rating Group uses procedures to control the quality of respondents' answers using correlation analysis. The first procedure involves constructing a “response quality” scale, which monitors the time taken by the respondent to complete the questionnaire and the variability of their responses in order to avoid skimming through the questionnaire and adding a question to the questionnaire to test attentiveness. The second procedure involves checking for statistically significant correlations between data from different survey waves.
